Choosing the Right Printer Paper Can Mean the Difference Between Poor Quality and High Quality Prints

by Jessica J Hussain

We've all had it happen; we're right in the middle of printing a 20 page report and suddenly the printer makes that awful noise as it runs out of paper. So, you need paper and you need it fast. However, don't rush into something like this, did you know that 80% of the quality is reliant on the printer paper you use? It's important to think about what you are printing for and how much quality is really required.

For most printing jobs, simple good old plain white paper will do. However, if you're printing an important document like a report or a photo for example, you'll need specialist printer paper. Photo paper is glossy and usually offers a professional finish - you may even want to use photo paper for the front page of your report to add that professional finish to your work.

There's an additional quality that some documents require and this is all down to the paper that you choose. Printer paper from Tesco Value is all very good and well for everyday printing needs but if you want that extra little something, you need to consider high quality brands that offer the additional clarity you need.

So when you're choosing what paper to buy, there are a few things you should consider. Firstly, think about the type of job you're doing. Is it necessary to add that extra quality? Most of the time, the answer will be no but if you're working on something special, it's nice to use higher quality paper to ensure that it looks and feels professional.

The higher gradient in the paper means that the ink sits better on it and this means a clearer and more high quality look and feel to the finished product. Obviously, you'll need to consider the ink you use as well but most of the work is down to the printer and the printer paper.

Finding high quality printer paper is simple but next time you start a printing project, remember to consider a different type of paper. You can use ordinary plain paper for your everyday printing needs but when it comes to special projects, it's a good idea to use specialist paper if you can.
